The NLP technique of TimeLine is usually considered therapy as it delves into experiencing one's last to defeat memories of trauma stored in the subconscious mind. It can be a reframing process that permits the consumer to have the last in the present moment to evoke awareness and embark upon therapeutic action. More powerful use of the technique would be to make one's future.

The underlying principle of the TimeLine is we keep our thoughts in predictable ways as though they are files in a cupboard. Most often we file back behind and keep the future in front; we're linear and rigid in regard to the period. Some file past on the future and left on directly, or vice versa; we are flexible in respect of the time. A few file beyond below and potential over. Whatever we do we do this consistently. Therefore, we've got a method of figuring out in which our previous has been and what the future is very likely to be. Most, almost all people, keep the present-centred around us, generally just above our head.

An excellent beginning point in TimeLine would be to ascertain how the client views their particular TimeLine, front and behind, right and left, down and up or another manner. The coach can then request the customer to move above that TimeLine and centre through deep breathing. Coach then requests the client to request the subconscious mind to guide in proceeding forward and backwards and interpreting what's being observed.

Making the Future

A fantastic practice is for your client to then ask the subconscious to direct forward to the future, the coach continuously verifying if the customer can see obviously. Sometimes the customer might require a flashlight. Occasionally despite best efforts, the customer may not even see.

If the customer can see the future clearly, the trainer can move the client forward so much as the client can go, say 20 years ahead, and explain what the client's life is really like. What has the customer become, what's the client doing, what is the client using? With experience, an expert trainer can help the customer create a visual and sensory experience of what the customer wants to be in 20 years. It may seem strange, yet true.

Permit the client to consume this upcoming area; subsequently request the customer to move backwards in time from this future 20 years ahead, in measures of say 5 years, to the present instant, describing at each stage what the client sees as time goes. Record this communication with the client's permission for their advantage. The customer can convert them later into documents of action.

Allow the client to come to the current moment and centre again. The trainer can request the customer to recapture observations about the long run to anchor from the client's conscious mind what they experienced. The trainer can ask the customer whether the customer has some obstacles that could impede this imagined future.

Uttered the Beyond by Reliving

Whether there are possible hurdles, or if the upcoming vision is fuzzy and uncertain, the coach can request the customer to travel back into the past in the current moment space. The trainer would ask the customer to request his unconscious to go back to a time when the customer had an experience, disempowering or traumatic, that will be causing the journey into future challenges. The customer may have a couple of false starts, and might eventually land to a previous place that left behind a disempowering memory for a barrier.

At a training level, it'd be best to merely allow the client to look into this event and discuss senses, emotions and thoughts on this occasion as to why and how it's a barrier. This procedure needs to be repeated a couple of times longer to ensure that such disempowering memories have been addressed.

At the training level, the process doesn't go deeper than these past experiences. It's simply to have the customer observe these occasions, discuss and reflect on what the client is able to do in order to reframe and conquer these memories. At the hands of a trained individual, it would be possible to direct the client to undergo and relive the injury and reframe the experience to relieve the negative effect.

The TimeLine process can be a powerful tool to help make a future vision and to become mindful of limiting beliefs, in the principles and ethics of training. The method requires trust between the 2 parties, unconditional positive regard, and compassion of this trainer with the client.
