The underlying principle of the TimeLine is we keep our thoughts in predictable ways as though they are files in a cupboard. Most often we file back behind and keep the future in front; we're linear and rigid in regard to the period. Permit the client to consume this upcoming area; subsequently request the customer to move backwards in time from this future 20 years ahead, in measures of say 5 years, to the present instant, describing at each stage what the client sees as time goes. Record this communication with the client's permission for their advantage. The customer can convert them later into documents of action.

The trainer can ask the customer whether the customer has some obstacles that could impede this imagined future.

Whether there are possible hurdles, or if the upcoming vision is fuzzy and uncertain, the coach can request the customer to travel back into the past in the current moment space. The trainer would ask the customer to request his unconscious to go back to a time when the customer had an experience, disempowering or traumatic, that will be causing the journey into future challenges. The customer may have a couple of false starts, and might eventually land to a previous place that left behind a disempowering memory for a barrier.

At a training level, it'd be best to merely allow the client to look into this event and discuss senses, emotions and thoughts on this occasion as to why and how it's a barrier.
