Punjab has been one of the entertaining franchises in the Indian T20 League and they will enter into the 2021 season with a new name. Punjab’s performance in Indian T20 League hasn’t been convincing so far and they appeared in the final of this tournament just once. In 2014, they suffered a defeat in the final against Kolkata. Punjab produced some quality bowlers in the last 13 editions.

Piyush Chawla played his first six seasons in Indian T20 League for Punjab. The leg-break bowler is currently the third leading wicket-taker of the Indian T20 League with 156 wickets. Chawla played 87 matches for this franchise and picked up 84 wickets at an average of 26.63. In the opening season, Chawla bagged 17 wickets at an average of 22.88 and took Punjab into the semifinals. In 2011 and 2012, he scalped 16 wickets each season.
Sandeep Sharma was the prime fast bowler for Punjab from 2013 to 2017. He was known as the new-ball bowler and Punjab tried him most in the powerplay. In his second season (2014), he helped Punjab to break its maiden Indian T20 League final. He picked up 71 wickets from 56 matches while playing for this franchise. In 2014, he bagged 18 wickets in just 11 matches at an average of 19.66 to seal the maiden entry into the finals. In 2017, he scalped 17 matches from 13 matches and his best spell was also recorded in the same season against Delhi.
Axar Patel made his debut in 2014 and played five seasons, before becoming a part of the Delhi squad. Axar picked up 61 wickets at an average of 28.93. In his debut season, he scalped 17 wickets at an average of 23.82 and took Punjab into the finals. He also bagged a 4-wicket haul which came in 2016. Axar Patel bowled crucial overs in the middle and provided breakthroughs.
The former Indian pacer Irfan Pathan was the key part of the Punjab franchise from the very first season. He played three seasons for them and picked up 47 wickets at an average of 24.80. In 2009, when IPL held in South Africa, Pathan bagged 17 wickets at an average of 22.94, following 15 wickets in his debut season.
Mohammed Shami is the current main pacer of the Indian T20 League and he became an integral part of the franchise since his debut in 2019. He played two seasons so far and bagged 39 wickets from 28 matches at an average of 23.82. Shami was in good form in Indian T20 League 2020 with 20 wickets. After Andrew Tye, he was the bowler who picked 20 or more wickets in a single season. Shami even picked up 19 wickets in his debut season.
